New virus attempt…

By Todd | September 9, 2008

We have received notice that another attempt to hit people with a virus through e-mail has come about. If you receive a letter threatening you with police and lawsuit because your Ip address is sending spam- DISREGARD THIS! Apparently they tell you they have an IP address log about you and have attached a copy in .zip format. DO NOT OPEN THIS> It is a ploy to hit you with a virus. Here is a copy of the message sent to me by one of our clients:

From: Doris Duarte [mailto:ycls@bohemian-glass.com]

To: ******************************

Subject: I am wait your reply

To Whom It May Concern:

I am tired of receiving messages containing malicious computer programs

(viruses) from your e-mail address!!!

If within 1-2 days you do not stop sending messages to my e-mail address, I

will have to address this issue to the Police!…

Today I received a hard copy of your data logs from my Internet service

provider. The copy contains your IP address, logs of sending malicious

programs and your e-mail address details…

I am sending you the copy of the document containing your data and logs of

sending malicious programs as the proof of your fault!!!!!!

You must print the document containing the list of your data and logs of

sending malicious programs and pass it on to your Internet service provider

with, so that they could find out why the viruses are sent from your

computer to my e-mail address!!!!

Ask your Internet service provider to resolve this problem!!!!

Do this now!!!

Once again!!! If you don’t stop sending the letters, I will address to the

Police and file a lawsuit against you!!!

Attached was a ZIP file called “IPLOGS.zip”.

Once again disregard this and DO NOT OPEN THIS E-MAIL ATTACHMENT.

UPS e-mail attachments containing viruses!

By Todd | August 1, 2008

Be mindful of e-mails from UPS that have attachments. These are usually virus files (NOT from UPS). Keep in mind UPS will usually send a link to their website in the e-mail to provide you the information they are sending you. Many of you are aware of this, however many more are not, especially if you use UPS Online. So be aware, the virus is a high damage potential Trojan.

Update to Vista SP1 updates

By Todd | March 22, 2008

There appears to be some driver issues involved for those with Windows Vista machines or Notebooks. Microsoft has chosen a list of “problematic” drivers which means that consumers with hardware using these drivers will NOT get the Vista SP1 update on their Windows upate list. Mainly these are users that have machines that were upgraded to Vista from XP or some Dell, Gateway, and Sony machines using 3rd party hardware like sound cards (Sigma Tel mainly). There appears to be no correction for this at this time.
